I don't use PAINT 3D, but you are barking up the right tree in learning more about UV mapping. It sounds like the issue has to do with the difference of where the artwork is on the texture when painting in PAINT 3D and where it is when you simply bring the texture in to Unity as an albedo map. So again, I'm not really asking how to map this specific object, I'm wanting to know why it's different between the two? I'm also watching a bunch of YouTube videos about UV mapping, etc to see if I can get an understanding of what is going on. It's a block with a sticker on it, when I apply the texture to the one not exported, it places the sticker on every side and stretched out, but on the one exported from Paint 3D, it's just on the top. Why does this texture map correctly when using the one exported from Paint 3D, but NOT when using the original that has NOT been run through paint 3d? So my question is trying to understand how texture mapping works. but when I open this same mesh, that has NOT been painted and exported using PAINT 3D, the texture is tiled on it. I set the material to "use external materials" so that the texture shows up. So I have an object / mesh that I can paint in PAINT 3D, the Windows app, and I export it and bring it into Unity.
